Q: What do I need to enroll in the EMT course (EMS 131)?
A: You will need to see a college advisor or the EMS Program Director for listing of pre-requisites and signature of recent and a copy of the Rules and Regulations.
Q: What are the pre-requisites for EMS 131?
A: You must have:
- Must take and pass the NELSON-DENNY or Compass reading test passing the ninth grade reading level or show proof of Associate Degree or higher from an Accredited Institution
- Must be 17.5 years of age or older by the first day of class.
- Current CPR card at the Health Care Professional level or equivalent expiring no sooner than two months after the last day of class. (EMS 125)
- This card must be indicating that course material has at least covered; 1 and 2 person adult, child, and infant CPR, Foreign body airway obstruction in adult, child, and infant; instruction on body substance isolation and use of Bag-Valve-Mask, and operations of an Automated External Defibulator.
- Negative test results for TB, by skin test or X-Ray reading by radiologist, less than 6 months from the first day of class.
