Phi Theta Kappa (Beta Gamma Pi Chapter)
About PTK
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is an Honor Society for students who have completed a minimum of 12 credits and maintained a 3.5 GPA. PTK provides opportunities for individual growth and development through four hallmarks: scholarship, leadership, service and fellowship.
- Leadership Hallmark - the Leadership Hallmark encourages PTK chapters and their members to take on leadership roles on campus, in the community, and within Phi Theta Kappa. It also provides leadership development for members, students, and community members.
- Scholarship Hallmark - the Scholarship Hallmark's major focus is the Honors Study Topic. The topic is timely, international in scope, issue-oriented, appropriated for interdisciplinary study, and amendable to study on even small college campuses with limited library and research facilities. The Honors Study Topic for 2006-2008 is Gold, Gods, and Glory: The Global Dynamics of Power. A secondary focus of Scholarship is tutoring, mentoring, and recognizing scholarship of faculty and students.
- Service Hallmark - the Service Hallmark's primary focus is the Internal Service Program. Every two years PTK selects an international Service Program that correlates with the Honors Study Topic. For 2006-2008, the International Service Program is Operation Green: Improving Our Communities, a partnership with Keep America Beautiful. The Service Hallmark also encourages service activities within the college campus and the local community.
- Fellowship Hallmark - the Fellowship Hallmark is inherent in all PTK activities and programs. Planned Fellowship activities such as game nights, dances, carnivals, or family events which reach out to the college and local communities are planned on a regular basis.
