Personality Assessments: Know Who You Are

Your personality is one of the most important driving influences your career, relationships, health and sense of well-being. To harness the full potential of your personality, it is critical to first measure and then gain insight into your strengths and developmental needs.

The following websites contain information that can help you better understand a little more about yourself and what might make sense for you.

Personality Assessment Websites

  • Personality Type - Based on the book Do What You Are by Paul Tieger and Barbara Barron-Tieger. Take a quiz to discover your personality type or look up your MBTI code information.
  • Type Focus - TypeFocus Careers (TFC) is an interactive online program that helps students/clients develop excellent career plans starting with self-awareness using personality type strengths. TFC is used by universities, colleges, community career centers and high schools.
  • The Keirsey Character Sorter - Scroll to bottom and click on Character and Temperament Sorter II. It will score instantly and provide you with a four-letter code, letting you know if your personality preference is extrovereted or introverted, sensing or intuitive, thinking or feeling, judging or perceiving. Similar to the MBTI; very helpful. Free!
  • Career Key - Click on yellow “you”; then choose “Take the Career Key.” Similar to the Holland Self-Directed Search.
  • Queendom - Good broad range of assessments. Some are just fun; others are very helpful.
  • Wizard's Realm - Despite the strange name, this site offers an array of links to fun and enlightening personality assessments and more. Have fun. This site can provide insights and start conversations.
  • University of Waterloo, Canada - The Self-Assessment module is not to be missed—includes information and checklists for helping to determine Personality and Attitudes, Skills and Achievements, Knowledge and Learning Styles, Values and Interests. Excellent site.
