College Honors Program Requirements
Students who have proven their ability to excel academically can participate in the College Honors Program on either the Prescott or Verde Valley campuses.
Entering Freshmen Must:
- Rank in the upper 15% of their high school graduating class, and
- Have a cumulative high school grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or greater on a 4.0 scale (or a score of 650 or greater on a High School Equivalence Diploma), and
- Be at least 17 years of age by the start of the Fall 2009 semester, and
- Have completed no more than 13 credit hours of 100-level or higher college coursework (with a minimum GPA of 3.4 for any completed credits), and
- Submit SAT or ACT scores if they are a home-school graduate.
Continuing Students Must:
- Have completed between 14 and 48 Yavapai College credit hours in courses numbered 100-299, and
- Have maintained a Yavapai College GPA of 3.4 or better (on coursework numbered 100 or higher), and
- Demonstrate (via an advisor-signed academic plan) that at least two full semesters of work remain before completion of an Associate degree.
Once Admitted to the College Honors Program, Students Must:
- Enroll in and complete a minimum of 13 credit hours (from courses numbered 100 – 299) per semester and,
- Progress toward earning a Yavapai College Associate Degree, and
- Participate in special Honors activities, and
- Maintain a minimum required GPA as shown below:
