Yavapai College General Education Global/International Awareness Courses

Global/International Awareness Values

Global/International Awareness Area Values courses at Yavapai College reflect the values and guidelines for general education and, in addition, commit students and faculty to recognize and acknowledge the importance of:

  1. geographic literacy (including knowledge of locations and spatial relationships and processes);
  2. a global perspective with an emphasis on the interdependence of the world’s people;
  3. multicultural awareness, international understanding and world peace;
  4. the local, global/international and/or environmental aspects of personal, professional and social decisions/behaviors

Global/International Awareness Courses outcomes

Upon successful completion of study in global/international awareness courses the learner will be able to:

  1. identify and analyze significant issues of global/international interdependence and universal human concern;
  2. evaluate discipline-specific global/international issues (e.g., cultural, social, historical, geographical, economic and environmental issues) to provide a basis for an informed citizenry;
  3. explain a personal connection to the global/international community in contemporary society;
  4. identify and explain the geographic components, relationships and processes involved in global social, environmental and/or cultural systems.
