Joseph Landavaso joined Educational Talent Search just for his senior year. He was a quick study and made good use of the information he gained from Ricardo Hernandez, his ETS Counselor. He learned how to write scholarship letters, and won a scholarship for college. He balanced studies, work, athletics, and applying for college his senior year. Now he's starting his college career at Yavapai College this fall 2009.
Joseph Landavaso graduated from Camp Verde High School in May 2009. As one of our newest graduates, we decided to ask some questions about his experiences in high school and his thoughts about college.
Q: What’s the best part of your senior year?
A: Wrestling, soccer, and graduation.
Q: What’s the hardest part of senior year?
A: Trying to figure out how to go to college, and having a job, and going to school.
Q: Why did you decide to go to college?
A: I always wanted to, and to get a good job, I wanted to have a variety of jobs. Social experience.
Q: Were you successful in the financial aid process?
Y: Yes. I got a scholarship.
Q: What do you think would be different in college?
A: More independence, doing things on my own. Also, worry about bills, work.
Q: What do you hope to do after college?
A: Get a job in environmental science or in nursing.
Q: What advice do you have for this year’s students?
A: Definitely get in to ETS and do all the work you’re supposed to. Take advantage of ETS.
Joseph is attending Yavapai College now, beginning in the fall of 2009. Congratulations Joseph!
