Project Director Responsibilities

Yavapai College and the Grants Office believe that faculty, instructors and staff who deliver educational programs should be allowed to manage their projects themselves. For this to be successful, project directors must be aware of their responsibilities related to proposal plans, budgets and other management issues.

The project director is responsible for providing current, accurate data about the problem to be addressed, details on how the project will operate and the results to be achieved.

During the proposal development stage, the project director might be asked to:

  • Provide a written statement of the problem or need and supporting documentation
  • Provide a written description of the project goals, objectives, implementation strategies, method of evaluation and expected outcomes of the project
  • Work with the Grants Office and Business Office to prepare the project budget in accordance with the application guidelines as well as College policies

Project directors are also responsible for implementation of grant projects. Once funding has been acquired, the project director is expected to work with the Business Office Grants Liaison to set up grant accounts and generate any reports required by the funding agency.
