Title / Job Family:

Custodian, Lead

FLSA Status:

Non-Exempt

Role Focus:

Performs routine cleaning duties. Duties might include: keeps office building, or similar building in clean and orderly condition, etc.

Typical Scope:

Works within a specific department.

Typical Education:

High school diploma or GED.

Typical Experience:

Up to one year of work experience preferred.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Order processing systems and Word Processing software.

Typical Level of Interaction:

Requires tact and courtesy when interacting with others; exchanges basic information to accomplish responsibilities.

Supervisory Impact:

Has lead responsibilities for several employees in the Facilities Department. Carries out lead responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Representative Duties:

Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums hallways, stairs and office space. Empties trash and garbage containers. Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment. Cleans snow and debris from sidewalk.

  • Analytical Skills - Understands where and how to gain access to needed information. Can test validity of perceptions and assumptions on own. Pushes beyond the superficial to identify root causes of problems and situations.
  • Problem Solving Skills - Strong problem resolution skills. Generates varied solutions to problems. Can work within system to get things done quickly. Challenges status quo in a constructive way.
