Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of eight years of experience required in the same or related function. Two or more years of management responsibility required

Requires persuasion and influencing when interacting with direct reports and ability to train, coach, and counsel. Requires extensive external contact and influencing.
Has direct and indirect reports. Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise employees in one or more major department(s). Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. May also directly supervise non-supervisory employees.

Plans, directs, evaluates and oversees administration of student services and related grant programs for the district by performing duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Responsible for student life, housing, recruitment, enrollment, development, retention, safety, financial aid, advising, and other related programs and services.
Directs the planning, implementation and evaluation of student services programs.
Develops and implements comprehensive, district enrollment management plan to include recruitment and retention, express enrollment services, action plans to achieve enrollment goals, incorporate appropriate technology, and benchmarks. Evaluates effectiveness of the plan’s implementation, adjusts action plans, programs and services accordingly.
Chairs and advises district committees on various issues related to Student Services.
Develops/assists in development of student services policies and programs for the college.
Directs, provides support, and coordinates activities of student services managers including assistant deans, directors, assistant directors, coordinators, and others.
Maintains current knowledge of, and interprets and applies Federal, State, and related legislation, student services issues and trends in community colleges. Evaluates and revises department/division administration and programs accordingly. Monitors the wider college situation and actively provides input and feedback to senior college staff on the impact of new policies, procedures, trends, and regulations.
Responsible for strategic planning and the subsequent fine tuning of the strategic plan of the campus/district and is accountable for the implementation of many aspects of the strategic plan.
Responsible for oversight of determination of fiscal requirements, projections and budget preparation; monitoring, verification and reconciliation of expenditure of budgeted funds; reviews financial statements reflecting status of programs and activities; ensure compliance with College policies and procedures.
May serve as chief academic officer in absence of VP of Academic Affairs/Provost.
