Performs intermediate or advanced nonexempt work requiring application of a specific set of skills usually associated with the trades or computer hardware
Works within a specific department but applies skills throughout the college
High school diploma or GED required; two years of technical training or college required .
Minimum of two years of experience in the trade or technical function; four or more years required at the highest complexity level
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Design software, Database software, Word Processing Software and Internet software.
Requires tact and courtesy when interacting with others; requires some influencing and work prioritization to accomplish responsibilities across multiple departments
No lead or supervisory responsibilities; explains procedures and provides departmental information for use by others

Draws or paints illustrations for use by various media to explain or adorn printed or spoken word by performing the following duties. Studies layouts, sketches of proposed illustrations, and related materials to become familiar with assignment. Determines style, technique, and medium best suited to produce desired effects and conform with reproduction requirements, or receives specific instructions regarding these variables. Formulates concept and renders illustration and detail from models, sketches, memory, and imagination. Discusses illustration at various stages of completion and makes changes as necessary. Selects type, draws lettering, lays out material, or performs related duties. Draws or paints graphic material and lettering to be used for title, background, screen advertising, commercial logo, and other visual layouts.
