Role Focus:

Organizes and integrates planning and execution of activities around a specific program or function; may assist to develop and administer budget.

Typical Scope:

Works within a specific area requiring a specialized body of knowledge; requires an understanding of internal and external procedures and policies to produce end results

Typical Education:

Undergraduate degree required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; masters level degree preferred.

Typical Experience:

Minimum of four to eight years of experience required in the same or closely related function; two or more years of management responsibility required

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of operation of computer operating systems; principles and techniques of web development and applications; web programming techniques and procedures; graphic design; computer graphic applications; system administration on Windows NT, other operating systems and programs.

Typical Level of Interaction:

Requires influencing and project management of others within the same and other departments to accomplish responsibilities; requires moderate external contact and influencing

Supervisory Impact:

May have lead responsibility over other employees. Carries out lead responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Representative Duties:

Directs and manages the planning, design and implementation of web applications, systems, network infrastructure and web pages.

Monitor and maintain YC website, web-enabled applications, HTTP, FTP, and application servers.

Work through the web committee to develop, implement, and support policies, procedures, and standards for the college internet environment.

Verify and update all web-based content to ensure compliance with recognized standards.

Assists users in the use of web development tools and applications.

Configures, sets up, and monitors server operation and performance.

Create and administer databases.

Create server scripts.

Integrate databases into active server pages.

Develops scripts to integrate databases.

Directs the development of uniform web pages to represent the college image.

Evaluate web development tools.

Hires, trains and supervises assigned staff.

Identify and resolve software and operating system problems.

Manages new web development projects.

Modify and implement selected web applications to interface with existing applications.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Works with faculty and staff to determine required web functionality.
