Exempt

Role Focus:

Organizes and integrates planning and execution of activities around a specific program or function; may assist to develop and administer budget.

Typical Scope:

Works within a specific area requiring a specialized body of knowledge; requires an understanding of internal and external procedures and policies to produce end results

Typical Education:

Undergraduate degree required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; masters level degree preferred.

Typical Experience:

Minimum of two years of experience required in the area of specialty; four or more years required at the highest complexity level

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of network server environment; network security; network operating systems; data communication; network management hardware and software tools; District operations; WAN, LAN and Wireless network installation and configuration; educational and administrative computer applications.

Typical Level of Interaction:

Requires influencing and project management of others within the same and other departments to accomplish responsibilities; requires moderate external contact and influencing

Supervisory Impact:

May have lead responsibility over other employees. Carries out lead responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Representative Duties:

Analyze, diagnose and correct problems related to the network.

Analyze network hardware needs and requirements at the college and recommend solutions.

Analyzes complex data using a variety of network management software tools, and prepare reports on network efficiency and other statistics.

Develops and installs WAN, LAN, and Wireless networks to meet college needs.

Develops and manages network security.

Documents installation and maintenance of software, devices, and end-user devices.

Implements end user network services (printing, end user accounts) and maintains network and peripherals.

Maintain and repair computer equipment and associated peripherals.

Manages the installations, operation and maintenance of WAN, LAN, and Wireless networks at the college.

Monitors network activity using specialized hardware and software to ensure maximum efficiency and minimum down time.

Provides technical support (product recommendation and configuration).

Resolves customer workstation and software problems.

Resolves network performance issues.

Performs related duties as assigned.

  • Presentation Skills - Able to make formal presentations that are more broadly based and complex. Can present to all levels of the organization within the scope of expertise. Skilled in the use of various presentation tools including multi-media.
