Organizes and integrates planning and execution of activities around a specific program or function; may assist to develop and administer budget.

Typical Scope:

Works within a specific area requiring a specialized body of knowledge; requires an understanding of internal and external procedures and policies to produce end results

Typical Education:

Undergraduate degree required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; masters level degree preferred.

Typical Experience:

Minimum of two years of experience required in the area of specialty; four or more years required at the highest complexity level

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Requires influencing and project management of others within the same and other departments to accomplish responsibilities; requires moderate external contact and influencing

Supervisory Impact:

May have lead and/or supervisory responsibility over other employees. Carries out lead/supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Representative Duties:

Plans and coordinates the day-to-day fiscal, administrative, and operational activities of a narrowly defined funded program. The program is usually focused to a single educational purpose, and may exist as a discreetly funded subset of an integrated, grant-funded program activity. Duties typically include grant planning and administration, budget management and control, program implementation and administration, internal and external operational/administrative liaison, program marketing, and reporting.

Provides administrative support in the development, implementation, and marketing of program function. Serves as a principal liaison between students, instructors, staff, other departments, and/or external constituencies on day-to-day programmatic, operational, and administrative issues; facilitates seminars, meetings, special projects, and problem resolution. Coordinates activities of support staff, consultants, instructors, and/or volunteers engaged in implementation and administration of program objectives. Monitors program revenues and expenses for cost effectiveness of program. Writes, edits, and coordinates development of course catalogs, promotional materials, educational materials, training manuals, newsletters, and/or brochures, as appropriate to the program. Collects and analyzes data; prepares scheduled and special reports; maintains program records and statistical information. Performs or delegates clerical and administrative support tasks, including creation, typing, and editing of program correspondence, purchasing documents, reports, program handbooks, and other publications. Assists with grant and/or proposal writing as appropriate to the objectives and funding nature of the program; may participate in other fundraising activities. May perform specialized activities of a programmatic nature in direct support of the accomplishment of program objectives and protocol. Prepare and deliver lectures and practical demonstrations for students in class and individually. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

  • Communications Skills - Adept with electronic communication tools and processes. Delivers critical messages by applying appropriate techniques, media, language, etc. Collates and interprets information from within the organization.
  • Presentation Skills - Able to make formal presentations that are more broadly based and complex. Can present to all levels of the organization within the scope of expertise. Skilled in the use of various presentation tools including multi-media.
  • Written Communication Skills - Can produce clear and strong messages that are understood by diverse audiences. Effectively communicates the issues that are complex in nature verbally and in writing. Reviews and edits written work constructively.
