Role Focus:

Directs the work of others in a major department. Prioritizes, schedules, oversees, and evaluates work. Develops and administers budgets

Typical Scope:

Works within a broad body of knowledge. Requires knowing internal and external procedures and policies to produce end results

Typical Education:

Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Typical Experience:

Minimum of eight years of experience required in the same or related function. Two or more years of management responsibility required

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Student Information Systems, Database software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Typical Level of Interaction:

Requires persuasion and influencing when interacting with direct reports and ability to train, coach, and counsel. Requires extensive external contact and influencing.

Supervisory Impact:

Has direct and indirect reports. Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise employees in one or more major department(s). Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. May also directly supervise non-supervisory employees.

Representative Duties:

Plans, directs, evaluates and oversees administration of one or more major departments by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Chairs and advises district committees on various issues related to the specific discipline of the major department(s).

Responsible for administering admissions, records, registration, and financial aid programs at the college;

Develops and administers policies pertaining to the overall recordkeeping function of the college including class rosters, student applications, permanent records, transcripts, credits, grading, withdrawals, computer processing and statistical information;

Plans directs and evaluates student services areas including financial aid, records, registration, admissions, graduation, recruitment and retention; Coordinates functions with other college personnel;

Responsible for the security and confidentiality of student records;

Prepares and administers budget;

Represents the college on district, college and statewide councils and committees;

Oversees the development of bid and/or request for proposal/quotation (RFP/RFQ) specs. Analyzes, responds and prepares recommendations on vendors; negotiates rates with vendors and reviews contracts. Procures and oversees administration of third party vendors and consultants

Maintains current knowledge of, and interprets, IRS, federal, State, and related legislation

Ensures compliance with state, federal and District regulations. Revises program(s) administration to comply with regulations

Makes recommendations on applications of major software packages and systems for department
