Works within a specific area of discipline requiring specialized knowledge and experience in the area of assignment.

Typical Education:

Undergraduate degree required.

Typical Experience:

Minimum of four years of experience required in the area of specialty at the highest complexity level.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Typical Level of Interaction:

Requires influencing and project management of others within the same and other departments to accomplish responsibilities; requires moderate external contact and influencing.

Supervisory Impact:

May have lead or supervisory responsibility over others

Representative Duties:

The following are examples of typical duties that may be assigned to positions in this job family. It does not imply that all positions within the job family perform all of the duties listed, nor does it necessarily list all possible duties that may be assigned. Other duties may be assigned.

Performs a variety of moderately complex activities related to the area of specialty. Exercises independent judgment in the processing and resolution of non-routine matters.

Receives, analyzes, and responds to telephone calls, inquiries and requests for assistance related to area of specialty. Identifies and initiates corrective action. Establishes and coordinates work schedules. Enters data into computerized system. Monitors status of work requests. Identifies problems, troubleshoots and provides advice to assist users, students or customers.

Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and teaches others in the use of standard and complex equipment and the use of specialized software used in the functional area.

Compiles and Analyzes statistical data related to area of specialty. Maintain necessary reports, documentation, logs, records, callback reports and contact lists for department(s).

Determines methods and materials requirements and monitors and maintains inventory of materials. Recommends and implements modifications and improvements to system and procedures. Applies a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.

Provides instruction to students, users, and/or customers in area of specialty and monitors progress and effectiveness of instructional programs. Provides services to faculty, staff, students, and individuals or organizations outside of the college, such as government agencies.

Utilizes word processing, graphics, and spreadsheet software to create and print a variety of materials. May write, edit and publish organizational publications. Plans and devises layout of text, photos or illustrations for newsletters, flyers, brochures, posters, manuals, overheads, or other presentation/report materials.

Assists in providing a positive organizational image to the general public, students, and the community.

  • Communications Skills - Adept with electronic communication tools and processes. Delivers critical messages by applying appropriate techniques, media, language, etc. Collates and interprets information from within the organization.
  • Presentation Skills - Able to make formal presentations that are more broadly based and complex. Can present to all levels of the organization within the scope of expertise. Skilled in the use of various presentation tools including multi-media.
  • Written Communication Skills - Can produce clear and strong messages that are understood by diverse audiences. Effectively communicates the issues that are complex in nature verbally and in writing. Reviews and edits written work constructively.
  • Leadership Skills - Actively assists with daily allocations of resources and coordinates activities. Takes responsibility for transferring knowledge to others in the workgroup. Overseas individual or multiple functions within a workgroup.
  • Analytical Skills - Uses several analytical techniques to identify several solutions and weighs the value of each. Actively uses both technical and cognitive skills. Can conduct gap analysis and identify shortfalls. Uses technology in analysis process.
  • Problem Solving Skills - Champions methods, procedures, or systems which reduce time and effort. Utilizes technology to increase efficiency in new ways. Gathers relevant information systematically - considers broad range of issues or factors.
