Technician III, Trades
Non-Exempt
Performs intermediate or advanced nonexempt work requiring application of a specific set of skills usually associated with the trades or computer hardware.
Works within a specific department but applies skills throughout the college.
High school diploma or GED required; two years of technical training or college required.
Minimum of two years of experience in the trade or technical function; four or more years required at the highest complexity level.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Word Processing software and Spreadsheet software.
Requires tact and courtesy when interacting with others; requires some influencing and work prioritization to accomplish responsibilities across multiple departments.
May have lead or supervisory responsibilities; explains procedures and provides departmental information for use by others.

Technician III, Trades: Craftsman level tradesperson. Must possess the level of experience and knowledge of the trade to qualify as a Master Craftsman. Must possess at least ten years of hands on experience as a journeyman in the trade and completion of the requirements for Technician I and Technician II. Schooling/certifications in the trade would be considered for qualifying experience.
Coordinate, supervise and participate in activities involved in construction, installation, renovation and other projects in at least one specialty area (electrical, plumbing, HVAC or other skilled crafts area where licensure is required) to ensure compliance with relevant codes, established practices, blueprints and specifications;
Performs skilled work at the master craftsman level at least one trade. Performs skilled work at the journeyman level, in at least one additional trade.
Assists in preparing work schedule, assigning jobs, and evaluating workloads of maintenance employees. Provide technical guidance to Technician I & II level personnel.
Consults with Director on repairs and preventive maintenance.
Performs other duties as requested by immediate supervisor.
