Employees should maintain an ethical standard in conducting their professional responsibilities and in representing the College.
In carrying out responsibilities and as representatives of the College, employees should follow basic guidelines of honesty and integrity. Some examples include the following:
Employees will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution and laws of the State of Arizona, pursuant to A.R.S. 38- 231.
Gratuities, gifts, or favors that could impair or influence professional decisions or actions should be avoided.
All efforts should be made to protect the student from conditions harmful to learning or to health or safety.
Confidential information about colleagues obtained in the course of professional service must remain confidential unless disclosure serves a compelling professional purpose or is required by law.
Employees will not knowingly make false statements about another employee or a student, nor will they subject anyone to public humiliation.
Professional relationships with students will not be used for private advantage.
Information about students obtained in the course of professional service will not be disclosed, unless disclosure serves a compelling professional purpose or is required by law.
A false statement, misrepresentation of qualifications or a failure to disclose a material fact related to competency and qualifications which occurs during the employment and interview process will subject the employee to immediate dismissal.
Employees will not assist an applicant for employment known to be unqualified in respect to character, education, or other relevant attribute and will not knowingly make a false statement concerning the qualifications of a candidate for a professional position.
Employees will maintain and support an educational environment in which ideas and values can be examined critically, without disrespect for the members of the learning community holding these and other ideas and values.
