The College will maintain faculty salaries that allow the College to recruit and retain high quality personnel. Faculty members are paid a base salary, commensurate with a certain assigned step on the College's faculty salary schedule. The District Governing Board shall approve any changes in the base salary schedule.

The salary schedule maintains an "incremental" axis and an "educational" axis.
1. The "base" point on the educational axis is based upon the minimum qualifications identified in the job posting for the position. The incumbent is eligible for movement on the educational axis upon attainment of coursework credit approved by the Executive Dean and the Director of Human Resources.
2. Employees are placed upon the incremental axis upon employment. Placement can be anywhere within the first six steps of the axis, dependent upon the employee's training and experience, as well as the budget conditions assigned to the position and the unique market conditions for the position.
