Director, Veterans Upward Bound
Grant funded position 2009-2012.
Responsibilities of the Director include:
Oversee the Veterans Upward Bound Grant: write periodic reports, fulfill grant goals, and manage the budget
Develop a method to track student development
Collect and report the data
Oversee the implementation of grant quantitative and qualitative measurements
Liaison with the Department of Education
Supervise grant program staff
Interface with college faculty and staff as needed
Interface with Veterans organizations
Travel throughout the college district and region
Attend Department of Education meeting as necessary
Represent the VUB project to large groups in the host institution as well as on the local, state, regional, and national fronts
Write next grant request for proposal

Minimum Expectations & Requirements:
- Master's degree in Education, Behavioral Sciences, Public Administration or other related field
- Minimum of five years of directing or managing a TRIO of related type of program
- Fiscal management and human resources skills
- Knowledge and experience in US Government Regulations and Legislation
- Knowledge and related skills in working with computer software
- Experience in recruiting and dealing with the academic high risk veteran population and veteran organizations
- Experience in higher education academic advising, career counseling, records and admissions
- Experience working with the Department of Veteran Affairs
