Internships for YC Students

Looking for experience and direction in your career field? Then develop your career purpose through an internship

An internship can help you gain

• Help explore potential career directions
• Gain knowledge and experience in your chosen field
• Network with professionals
• Build work experience for your resume
• Develop professional skills and competencies
• Obtain college credit that works towards your degree/certificate

To be eligible for an internship

• A minimum 2.0 GPA
• At least 12 college credits
• Meet any specific program requirements
• Internship site commitment of 45 hours / each college credit

To set up the internship

1. Locate and arrange your internship placement from suggestions of faculty, the Career Services Coordinator, or through your own community contacts.
2. Contact your YC Divisional Office to confirm your supervising faculty member.
3. Meet with your supervising faculty member and complete your Internship Study Contract (ISC)
4. Take the ISC over to the YC Registration Office to sign up and pay registration fees.

• Record of Student Internship Hours

To complete the internship

1. Complete the necessary internship experience hours. (135 hrs./ 3 credits)
2. Review your work performance with your supervisor / employer
3. Meet with your faculty member for review of learning objectives and final grade.
4. Complete the Student Workplace Evaluation and send to Career Services.
