An internship is ... a structured field experience within a specific academic discipline or technical area.
An internship can help you gain

- Gain knowledge and experience in your chosen field

- Build work experience for your resume
- Develop professional skills and competencies
- Obtain college credit that works towards your degree/certificate
To be eligible for an internship
- A minimum 2.0 GPA
- At least 12 college credits
- Meet any specific program requirements
- Internship site commitment of 45 hours / each college credit
To set up the internship
- Locate and arrange your internship placement from suggestions of faculty, the Career Services Coordinator, or through your own community contacts.
- Contact your YC Divisional Office to confirm your supervising faculty member.
- Meet with your supervising faculty member and complete your Internship Study Contract (ISC)
- Take the ISC over to the YC Registration Office to sign up and pay registration fees.
Student Forms and Documents
To complete the internship
- Complete the necessary internship experience hours. (135 hrs./ 3 credits)
- Review your work performance with your supervisor / employer
- Meet with your faculty member for review of learning objectives and final grade.
- Complete the Student Workplace Evaluation and send to Career Services.
