Yavapai College Nursing Application Process

Yavapai College offers the nursing program on the Prescott, AZ and Verde Valley (Clarkdale, AZ) campuses. Verde Valley students will be required to travel to Prescott for occasional selected experiences.

All students are required to travel to off-campus clinical activities. The College does not offer nursing courses in extension locations.

Nursing Program Advisor

All applicants to the Nursing Program at Yavapai college are REQUIRED to meet with an advisor/counselor.

On the Verde campus please call or email  Marcia Byrd at (928) 634-6563. email:  marcia.byrd@yc.edu

Contact the Counseling office on either campus for an appointment with the nursing counselor. Your application packet will be given to you during this appointment. The guides on this web page are for information only.

Nursing Program Applications

Please be advised that the Nursing Program at Yavapai College requires a DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card with your Nursing Program Application. Please apply for your card ASAP.

Applications for Spring 2010 are CLOSED. There is a $ 50 application fee for Arizona residents to apply for nursing admission. The  Fall 2010 application packet will be online 12/15/09.

You must submit specific immunization documentation as part of your application, click here for details. Please read the Information Guide completely paying particular attention to the Immunization and Documentation Cover Sheet for a list of everything that is required.

Residency Requirements

How students can check their residency:

  1. Log into your myYC portal
  2. Under My Services for Fall 2009, click on My Registration
  3. There is a sentence underneath the Registration heading on the page that states: “Check your residency status by going to your Student Information” Student Information is a link – click on it.
  4. The page that opens is titled General Student Record – print that page.

Pre-Admission Exam

Prior to applying to the Yavapai College Nursing Program you must take the Yavapai College Nursing Pre-Admission exam which costs $50 for Arizona residents and $ 100 for Non-Arizona residents. Students are accepted to the Yavapai College Nursing Program by their ranked test scores and other criteria. Click here for the instructions for the Yavapai College Nursing Preadmission exam and the exam dates for Prescott and Verde for Fall 2010 admission. The exam will be given in Spring for the Fall 2010 admission.

A review book is available: Evolve Reach Admission Assessment Exam Review¸ 2nd Edition Publisher: Mosby/Elsevier ISBN# 978-1-14160-5635-5

You will be tested on: reading comprehension, vocabulary and general knowledge, math, anatomy & physiology and critical thinking. You will not be tested on the other sections in the study guide.

Out of state and off-campus applicants wishing to take the Yavapai College Nursing Preadmission exam must take this computerized exam at a local Prometric testing center. Additional fees will be accessed. Click here for instructions.

Fingerprint Clearance Procedure

Beginning in Fall 2006, fingerprint clearance cards will be required for all applicants to the nursing program and all CNA students. These cards must be submitted with each nursing application.
