Construction Update for SR 89/SR 69 Interchange

The Latest Updates for Your YC Commute

Information on this page comes from the ADOT State Route 89 Projects Update eNews.

SR 89/ SR 69 - Material Haul Will Cause Delays

Crews are excavating along the SR 89/ SR 69 Traffic Interchange Project. Ongoing earthwork at College Hill is being done to facilitate sliplane installation. Earthwork along SR 69 across from Frontier Village Shopping Center is being done to widen the existing roadway. Please be aware of the following impacts:

  • Monday, May 5th to Friday, May 9th, 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. SR 89 will be restricted by flaggers at the intersection with the VA Hospital throughout the week. The right lane of SR 89 southbound will be closed 24 hours per day to facilitate this work. SR 69 will be restricted by flaggers across from Frontier Village Shopping Center. Due to rush hour traffic volumes on SR 89 at the entrance to the VA Hospital, ADOT would like to take this opportunity to remind drivers that they may alternately access SR 69 from SR 89 via Prescott Lakes Parkway.

SR 89/SR 69 Traffic Flow Reconfiguration

As part of the design of the new intersection, traffic flow will be reconfigured at the SR 89/SR 69 traffic interchange. The left turn from southbound SR 89 to SR 69 will be permanently removed, and left turning traffic will access SR 69 via Prescott Lakes Parkway. Additionally, a right turn only protected turnaround movement at Aven Avenue is available. This reconfiguration is needed to enhance safety by removing an unprotected turn across multiple travel lanes. The left turn at the SR 89/SR 69 traffic interchange will be permanently removed in May 2008.

ADOT has a project hotline at 1-888-236-4374. Call this hotline anytime to receive project information.
