What options do I have as a victim?

Campus Police

The Campus Police is the Department responsible for law enforcement, security, and emergency police response. Campus Police responds to calls on
a twenty-four-hour everyday basis.

Campus Police may:

  • Conduct a criminal investigation and file criminal charges through Yavapai County Court (if pertinent)
  • Work in conjunction with other federal, state, or local police departments, when necessary
  • Cite for criminal charges up to and including arrest

The Office of Judicial Affairs

The Office of Residence Life and Judicial Affairs is the office that upholds the Student Code of Conduct.

A student may initiate charges through the College judicial system. The confidentiality of judicial records are protected by the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act.

Although the Office of Residence Life and Judicial Affairs is not a police agency, we may be able to assist you. Once we become aware of allegations of misconduct we may take action to prevent a student from having any further contact with a victim, or else face serious consequences.

If a student is found in violation of college policies, a wide variety of sanctions can be imposed ranging from a written reprimand to expulsion.

The Office of Residence Life and Judicial Affairs is responsible for:

  • Receiving complaints about student conduct
  • Notifying students who have been charged with misconduct
  • Holding administrative hearing with charged student to explain Yavapai College's disciplinary system, the charges, listening to his/her involvement in the incident, issuing sanctions
  • Arranging appeals hearings as per student request
  • Maintaining all College conduct records and files
