Ability to Benefit Testing

What is Ability to Benefit testing?

student studying in libraryFinancial aid recipients who have not graduated from high school and who do not hold a GED certificate must take an exam designed to determine their Ability-to-Benefit (ATB) from a college education program. Individuals must be at least sixteen years of age.

At Yavapai an individual may demonstrate an "ability to benefit" by taking either the COMPASS (computer-based testing) or ASSET (paper and pencil test). The results from this testing may also be used for the English and Math skills assessment.

  • Bring a photo ID to test
  • Know your social security #
  • There is no fee for YC students
