EMS & Fire Science Reading Test
Yavapai College requires a reading test for both the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Fire Science programs. Individuals must demonstrate their reading proficiency by taking the reading portion of the COMPASS computer-based test or the Nelson-Denny pencil and paper reading test. The COMPASS test is untimed. The average time taken is approximately thirty minutes. The Nelson-Denny test is timed and takes thirty-five minutes.
