Scholarships for Vocal
Here on the vocal music scholarship information page, you will find information regarding your eligibility for scholarships, audition dates, procedures for arranging auditions, how to prepare for an audition, important deadline for auditioning and most importantly, the way to contact Dr. Fisher, the Director of Choral and Vocal Activities.
The Vocal/Choral Music Department provides scholarship help for students who are majoring or minoring in music. Each year, eight scholarships are granted to the most outstanding incoming freshmen student musicians. Preference is given to at least one soprano, one alto, one tenor and one bass. The scholarships are intended to defray the extra cost of private voice lessons fees ($225 per semester). A student must re-audition for the scholarship each semester, rewarding the students who are demonstrating the greatest achievement.
Eight additional scholarships are granted to students in their sophomore year.

What do I do at the audition?
- You will be guided through vocal warm-up exercises by a Music faculty member to determine vocal quality and range.
- You will then be asked to sing a solo. The selection of a classical art song is most preferred for the audition. However, selections from musicals, folk music, or religious music may be used. The college will not provide an accompanist, so please use either an accompaniment tape/CD or arrange for your own accompanist. An a cappella selection may also be used.
- You will be evaluated on tonal memory.
Deadline dates:
- Please call for an audition date at least one week prior to the audition.
