The Prescott Vette Sette, a club of people who share an affinity for Corvettes, has added to a Yavapai College Foundation scholarship fund established in 2016 to support Yavapai College students pursuing careers in the automotive industry.

Club officers delivered a $6,000 Prescott Vette Sette Corvette Club Scholarship contribution to Mary Talosi, YCF Executive Director, and John Morgan, YC’s Associate Vice President of Career and Technical Education, earlier this month at the CTEC campus on Ruger Road in Prescott. Club members on hand for the check delivery were: PVS Charitable Foundation President David Eicher; Charitable Foundation Committee Member Chrissy Jones; 2023 Car Show Chairman Tom Jones; 2024 Car Show Chairman Joe Leffelman; and Karen Leffelman.

The PVS Club’s scholarship contribution is a direct result of the PVS Charitable Foundation’s annual fundraiser on behalf of the PVS club -- the September 2023 Corvette Car Show that drew more than 300 Corvettes and thousands of visitors to downtown Prescott, and garnered multiple generous sponsors.

“The club’s annual donations have led to the scholarship fund’s strong growth and have directly helped dozens of automotive students pay for the valuable training they receive at CTEC and land livable-wage jobs in the automotive industry,” Talosi said. “Community-supported scholarships like this create a wonderful circle of student success and help the Foundation support the college’s life-lifting mission.”

Vette Sette Club members appreciate that their hobby helps them give back to their community. Chrissy Jones said the club is pleased that its philanthropy in partnership with the YCF can have an immediate impact on a student’s life. “It helps students right now,” she said, explaining that when a  need arises, the scholarship can be bestowed quickly.
