Immigration and Student Visa Information
The I-20 form (Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant [F-1] Student Status) is necessary to obtain an F-1 student visa. An I-20 will be sent to you after the required Yavapai College Admissions documents have been received and evaluated by Yavapai College. It can take several weeks to obtain a visa.
If you are arriving from another country:
Present your I-20 form, Certificate of Admission, proof of financial eligibility, and certificate of sponsorship to the nearest U.S. Consulate and apply for a visa.
If you already are in the U.S. and transferring to Yavapai College:
- An International Student Transfer Form must be completed and returned to YC before your transfer can be approved
- Upon arrival at YC, contact the Registration Office for additional assistance with transfer procedures.
You must maintain at least 12 credit hours (full-time) at YC each semester to remain in valid immigration status.
Dropping below 12 credit hours may result in dismissal from the College and/or denial from BCIS for reinstatement.
