YC Inclement Weather Advisory for 1/28

Information for Students and Employees

Effective Thursday, January 28: 2-Hour Delay for in-person classes and activities. In-person classes and activities will begin at 10 a.m. Details below.

Yavapai College is committed to providing a safe environment for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Operating in the orange phase of its COVID-19 re-entry plan, roughly 85% of classes are virtual and nearly all employees are telecommuting, making this closure much different than a normal closure.

Therefore, the following is effective for Thursday, January 28:

Classes & Services

  • All classes scheduled to meet in-person at any of YC's campuses and centers are under a 2-hour delayDuring a delay, the College is closed and any class or activity that would have begun before or during the delay is canceled. Classes and activities that were scheduled to begin after the re-opening time will occur as normal. Note: At the discretion of the instructor, abbreviated classes and activities may resume once the College has reopened. Please contact your instructor with any questions regarding your class status.
    • If you are unable to travel or are concerned about missing class, please contact your instructor.
  • All classes scheduled to meet virtually through online or WebLive formats will meet as normally scheduled.
  • The Family Enrichment Center will follow the delayed schedule and will open at 10 a.m.
  • All services will remain open in virtual formats through phone, or Zoom videoconferencing.

Employees

  • Essential employees should report in-person as normal. This includes staff in facilities, College Police, food services, and residence halls.
  • Non-essential employees who work on campus should report at 10 a.m.
  • Faculty teaching virtual classes should continue with those classes as planned.
  • All other employees should work virtually.
  • Operations will return as outlined in the orange phase of the COVID-19 re-entry plan after 10 a.m. on Thursday.

Because many students, faculty, and staff travel from afar, closures and delays apply to all campuses and centers district-wide (if Prescott is closed, so is Clarkdale, Sedona etc.).
