Anyone can take classes if they are over 16 and are no longer attending public school or being home schooled. Students 16 and 17 years old must be withdrawn from high school. What happens during Week 1 of GED classes

Students must attend Week 1 to be admitted to GED classes. During this week, we test students for their present reading, math, and language levels and give them information about  the GED test. We also assess students' readiness to pass the GED test and their commitment to the 10-week class.

When do classes start?

Our 10-week Prep classes are offered in August, January, and March, and we have monthly entry times to GED Learn Lab every month from August through May.

When do classes meet?

We offer classes in Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley, Verde Valley, and on-line.

How often do classes meet?

Classes meet two days per week for three hours each day for a minimum of ten weeks.

How long will it take to get my GED?

The time it takes for GED study depends upon individual reading and math ability, scores on pretests, and time spent studying. Some students stay for two or more 10-week sessions.

Do I need to take classes before I take my GED test?

No. You may take the GED test without attending preparation classes.

When can I take my test?

Students can take the GED test whenever they are ready. We have practice tests to help us determine when a student is ready to take the real test.

How many tests are there?

The GED consists of 5 tests: Reading, Science, Social Studies, Math, and Writing. Most of the tests consist of multiple choice questions. In addition, the Writing test includes composing a short essay, and the Math test has some short answer items.
