FREE GED and College Readiness Classes
We help hundreds of people earn GEDs and prepare for college each year: single moms, working dads, and those looking for jobs or going on to college, from teenagers to grandparents.
Our teachers are friendly professionals who know the fear some students feel about going back to school. We will give you the support, information, and resources you need to be successful.
I want information on taking the GED test.
In January 2014, the current GED test will be replaced in Arizona. The new test will be a more challenging, computer-based test requiring some keyboarding skills. You must complete your GED test by the end of 2013 or you will be asked to start over with the new 2014 test.
Which YC Adult Education Program is right for you?
Our program offers several ways to prepare for the GED, college or career. Each Non-Credit Class includes pre- and post-assessments, Official GED Practice Tests, and instruction which targets exactly what you need to achieve your goals.
Whether you choose GED Prep Class, Intensive Math, Learn Lab, GED Online, or College Readiness-Math/Science, all our classes are all FREE and open to students with or without a high school diploma. See the class descriptions and schedule below.
- 15-week GED Prep classes give you instruction in all GED subjects. We emphasize math from the basics through algebra & geometry, writing skills, including essay writing, Reading, Science and Social Studies.
- GED Learn Labs are individualized and self-paced. Study materials include textbooks, instructional software, and tutoring as needed. Labs enroll new students twice every semester.
- Intensive Math Review is a short course which covers math fundamentals: fractions, decimals, percents, proportions and pre-algebra. It's a great math refresher for students preparing for college or the GED.
- GED Online is great for students who can't get to a class. After face-to-face orientation, online students study GED software at home under the guidance of an online instructor. Monthly face-to-face seminars include tutoring and GED practice testing.
- College Readiness: Math/Science gives you 10 weeks of applied math/science instruction, Microsoft EXCEL practice and help with college admissions. Students desiring a degree or certificate at YC can improve skills to get ready for college. Open to students with or without a high school diploma.
A current photo ID proving legal U.S. residence or citizenship is required on the first day of class.
NOTE: You must be at least 16 years old and withdrawn from high school to enroll.
