Emergency Medical Technician Certificate Information
The EMT course is designed to instruct students to become proficient, practical Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT’s). This course prepares one to function in the areas of controlling life-threatening and non–life threatening situations, and using non-medical skills.

The Yavapai College requirements for entry into The EMT course are based upon The Arizona State Rules and Regulations, The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Standards and Regulations, and The American Heart Association Requirements.
According to the State of Arizona and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT), the age requirement is 18 years of age when taking the Arizona State and National (NREMT) testing.
Note: Due to insurance requirements of various agencies within Arizona, you may not find employment until you are 21 years of age.
Suggestion: If you are between the years of 18-21, before making your final decision, check with the local EMS and Fire agency/s of interest, to see if they have this age restriction as part of employment.
Maximum 16 hours missed per semester (no make-up hours possible).
Medical fields may require background checks into past criminal history, which could disqualify a person from entering into the medical field.

Professionals are required to maintain certification through continual education every two years.
