Along with certification and licensure, accreditation is a tool intended to help assure a well-prepared and qualified workforce providing health care services. Yavapai College is currently only one of 3 schools accredited in Arizona. Our students are able to sit for National Registry (NREMT). Check out YC's Accreditation
Paramedic Course Outcome
The Paramedic Course is designed to instruct students to become proficient, practical, health-care professionals. The program consists of a minimum course length of 1155 contact hours: 655 hours of didactic instruction and practical laboratory, and 500 hours of clinical and vehicular training in hospitals, ambulances, fire engines, and clinics.
Once completing this course, you will be required to be State and Nationally certified to practice your profession.

Paramedic Program Statistics
Cost of the Program
The class consists of a total of 43 credit hours plus fees over 18 months.
You will need to purchase:
- books
- travel and meal expenses
- NREMT final exam cost
- money for miscellaneous such as immunizations, background checks, physical exam, and drug screen
Length of Program
AAS Degree in Paramedicine consists of a total of 63 credits:
- 43 from Paramedicine Program
- 20 from General Ed
Program is 18 months, beginning in the Summer Semester and ending in the Fall Semester.
Next class: Summer 2013
Applications will be available November 2012.
Prerequisites for Program
Recommended: 1 year experience in the field
Prerequisites:
- Application & attached documentation (sample)
- Current State Certification as an EMT
- Current CPR for Health Care Provider Card
- 24 Clock Hours of Hazardous Material Training (Meets - NFPA 472 Standards)
- Pass Yavapai College EMS Oral Board, Skill Test, and Written Test
- Specific Immunizations

Course Requirements
A completed application for entry into the program is required. Please read the directions carefully.
- 18-month program
- Pass the class with a 75% score or better
- Complete all skill and clinical hour requirements
- Obtain a score of 75% or better on a closed-book final exam
- Obtain a passing score on the final class practical skill examination
- Pass the National Registry of EMT’s final skills and computer examination
