A medical record is created for every patient in an outpatient or inpatient setting. HIM professionals work for organizations that use and manage health information. These professionals have a crucial responsibility in collecting, maintaining and analyzing the health data that healthcare experts rely on to deliver, manage and finance quality healthcare. They are experts in accurately and confidentially managing health information using both automated and manual information systems in many diverse roles. HIM professionals also accurately code diagnoses and procedures for reimbursement and statistical purposes.
Upon successful completion of the Coding Certificate Program, students will be eligible to sit for a nationally recognized credentialing exam through the American Health Information Management Association called a Certified Coding Associate (CCA).
Our Health Information Management Program is a three-semester certificate plus practicum program.
Class delivery methods are varied and designed to accommodate the many lifestyles and busy schedules of today’s students. Classes are offered in a traditional classroom setting, online, I-TV, hybrid, and in laboratory settings.
