A medical record is created for every patient in an outpatient or inpatient setting. HIM professionals work for organizations that use and manage health information. HIM professionals also accurately code diagnoses and procedures for reimbursement and statistical purposes.

Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and providing medication and other health products to consumers or patients. They receive written requests, refill requests, and verify patient information, among other various tasks.

Phlebotomy is the act of drawing blood either for testing or transfusion. It is a skill employed by physicians and many professionals in allied health fields, including nurses, medical assistants, paramedics, cardiac physiologists (UK) and clinical laboratory scientists.

Radiologic technologists take X-rays and CAT scans or administer nonradioactive materials into patient's blood stream for diagnostic purposes.
