The Career Services office on the Prescott campus offers a wide range of tools and services to assist with career choices, decision making and job search success.

Register for one or both of our college career exploration classes:

  • STU110-Career Discovery (1 credit) – Take this course if you are confused or uncertain as to your career path and/or college major.
  • STU111-Career & Life Planning (2 credits) – Take this course if you have a career choice in mind and you need occupational information and career resources for your job search.

Current and perspective Yavapai College students and alumni can make an appointment with a Career Services Coordinator for individual career counseling. A great way to explore careers and prepare for your job search is to use the internet. Below are simple step-by-step processes using selected internet resource links.

Need help deciding on a career direction, choosing a major, or researching career information? Explore the resources that follow.


Step #1 - Self Understanding

Knowing who you are through identifying your interests, skills, values, work attitudes, and personality can help you develop a career path that's right for you.

Some links to help you gain more self-understanding:

  • Career Cruising – An interactive self-exploration program for Yavapai College students and alumni. The Explore Assessments section surveys your interests, skills, and learning styles to help you discover many career ideas.
  • Career Exploration – Many of these links have inventories and surveys that help you learn more about yourself and how that might connect you to careers and majors.

Step #2 - Gathering Information

Once you know what you really are interested in, it's time to find out as much about your upcoming career path as possible.

Sorting through the information you gathered about your career path and yourself, it's time to make a decision and gain relevant experience in your chosen field.
