Outside Scholarships

In our continuing effort to help students find financial resources beyond federal and state grants and Yavapai College Scholarships, we have provided these outside resources to help you locate additional scholarship sources.

Interactive Scholarship Search - A database compiled by Yavapai College Financial Aid to assist in locating scholarships.

FastWeb Scholarship Search - (www.fastweb.com) The most complete source of local scholarships, national scholarships and college-specific scholarships. Search and compare detailed college profiles.

Scholarship Criteria

The criteria for most outside scholarships falls into just a few categories: field of study, grade point average or test scores, financial need and group membership. Some scholarships are awarded based on a combination of criteria. Even if you do not have outstanding grades or significant financial need, don't let that stop you from researching and applying for scholarships.

Scholarship Documentation

Each Scholarship donor may require different documents to apply for their scholarship. Assemble the most common documents in advance to speed the application process. These may include:

  1. A completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (www.fafsa.ed.gov)
  2. Transcripts
  3. Letters of recommendation from teachers or a professional in your field of study
  4. Prior year tax forms
  5. Essay
