  • Do I have to come to the Prescott campus to arrange Veterans Education Benefits?

No. The entire process can be completed online or in person at the Prescott or Verde campuses. Some students may also be required to take the COMPASS Placement test. Both services are available at the Prescott or Verde campuses.

Please meet with the Veterans Services Coordinator at your transfer college to complete the process.

  • I am not interested in earning a degree. I just want to take a few classes. Will my VA Education Benefits pay for that?

The Department of Veterans Affairs requires that each student declare a degree or certificate program and they will only issue benefits for courses that are a required part of that degree or certificate. If you do not intend to complete a degree or certificate program at Yavapai College, you may not use your Veterans Education Benefits to pay for your courses here.

However if you simply have not decided on a career plan, you may be able to declare a general degree for the first semester while you complete classes in various subject areas to help you decide. Please make an appointment with an Academic Advisor to discuss your options 928-776-2106.
