Lifelong Learning

Life course has traditionally been seen as a linear progression, from school, work to retirement. Now, a circular life course is emerging, with education, work, and leisure being intertwined as our population ages.

Yavapai College's Lifelong Learning addresses this new life course, with programs serving 5,000 adult students annually.

GerontologyGerontology (defined as the study of aging) is a multi–disciplinary field of study. The field of aging is diverse, offering many different employment opportunities.

This diversity exists, in part, because older persons are different from each other in many ways. People working in the field of aging report great satisfaction in addressing the challenges of the elderly, helping to maintain the quality of their lives, and enjoying their wit, wisdom and creativity.

This 17-credit certificate is open to individuals interested in the field of aging including professionals in the health and human services, as well as non-professionals interested in learning about an aging population.
