Small Business Enterpreneurship Certificate Program (SBE)

Move from the conceptual stages of your business idea all the way to a successful, fully operating business. Ongoing assistance is always available through SBDC consulting services.

A 5-Week, 12-Class Series

A series of twelve, 5-week Small Business Courses offered by Yavapai College in conjunction with SBDC. Learn about entrepreneurship, management and leadership, and why an effective blend of these skills is critical to success. Upon completion, a Small Business Entrepreneurship Certificate is earned, along with 12 college credits.

Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday evenings

The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Certificate Program Courses are offered on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30pm to 8:15 pm on Prescott and Verde Campuses as well as at the Weekend College.

SBE 201 - Small Business Entrepreneurship

Analysis of the practical aspects of creating and managing a small business - emphasis on entrepreneurship, management and leadership, and why an effective blend of these skills is critical to success.

SBE 202 - Small Business Marketing (Pre-requisite for SBE 206 and 207)

Analysis of marketing, and a survey of current marketing techniques for small business.

SBE 203 - Small Business Accounting Principles (Pre-requisite for SBE 204 and 205)

Interpretation of accounting and financial statements, and their relationship to the health of a small business.

SBE 204 - Small Business Accounting Systems

Software options available for small business accounting, with hands-on emphasis through QuickBooks.

SBE 205 - Small Business Finance

Methods to raise capital for a start-up or an existing small business.

SBE 206 - Small Business Advertising and Sales

Analysis of advertising and media strategies, including sales and promotion techniques for a small business.

SBE 207 - Internet Marketing for Small Business

An analysis of E-Commerce opportunities and techniques for small business, including webpage design and how to set up an internet business.

SBE 208 - Small Business Legal Issues

A study of laws and legal issues relevant to owning and operating a small business.

SBE 209 - Small Business Tax Issues

An analysis of IRS rules and regulations as they relate to small business, including strategies for minimizing tax liabilities.

SBE 210 - Retail Customer Service for Small Business

An analysis of techniques related to success in small business retail and service management, including customer service, pricing, inventory control, and continuous improvement.

SBE 211 - Human Resources and Small Business

A survey of recruitment, retention, training, incentives, and other small business human resource issues.

SBE 212 - The Business Plan for Small Business

Putting it all together - how to write a detailed, professional business plan, and why one should be written, including implementation strategies.
