UPDATE: VA Regulations and Aviation Program
UPDATE: VA Regulations and Aviation Program
Yavapai College (YC) received official notification from the Department of Veteran’s Affairs (VA) on May 22, 2015 denying YC’s request for a waiver of the 85/15 Rule related to its Aviation (AVT) degree program.
What does this mean for students NOT using VA education benefits to fund the AVT program?
Applications from students using federal financial aid and/or other private financial resources to fund the AVT program will continue to be accepted and placed on a priority waitlist (ranked by application date completed and score) to be contacted for admission to the program starting as early as the Fall 2015 semester. Apply now.
What does this mean for students using VA education benefits to fund the AVT program?
Based on the VA’s decision, YC is unable to enroll any new students using VA education benefits in either the helicopter or airplane concentrations of the AVT degree program.
YC cannot guarantee that any new students using VA education benefits will be admitted into the helicopter and airplane concentrations of the AVT degree program. YC and its aviation partners are working diligently toward the goal of being able to enroll new students using VA education benefits into the helicopter and airplane concentrations.
Unfortunately, at this time, we do not know when we will be in a position to enroll new students using VA education benefits into either of these programs. However, YC will also continue to accept AVT applications from students using VA education benefits who, then, will be placed on a priority waitlist (ranked by application date completed and score) to be contacted at a future time for admission to the program based on space available. Apply now.
Who should students contact with questions about the AVT Program?
All students interested in the AVT program should direct questions to the YC Academic Advisor, Lisa Mauldin, at 928.776.2106, or email lisa.mauldin@yc.edu.
