The Yavapai College Art program includes a wide range of courses that provide students with an excellent foundation in the fine arts. The art program is extensive and exciting with classes in art history, ceramics, color, design, drawing, jewelry, lapidary, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, stained glass and woodworking. Art faculty participate in regional and national exhibitions and have strong teaching experience. Courses are offered in traditional semester studio formats, online and in short intensive workshops. Special workshops with nationally-known guest instructors are offered throughout the year.
With a strong foundation in the fine arts, students can transfer to universities and art schools, produce and market art works, continually improve their techniques and learn new processes. Many students enroll in classes for personal enrichment and lifelong learning.
Students on the Prescott Campus have access to excellent facilities including state-of-the art ceramics, jewelry and sculpture studios. This campus offers the only woodworking program in the Arizona community college system. Students participate in juried exhibitions on the Verde Valley and Prescott campuses. Selected student work is featured annually in Threshold Creative Arts Magazine. The Yavapai College Art Department offers scholarships for degree-seeking students.
The Verde Valley Campus offers 30 art classes each semester in ceramics, drawing, watercolor, oil, acrylic, jewelry, color, design, photography and Photoshop. All courses required to earn an Associate of Fine Arts degree are available at this campus.
Art courses are offered on the Prescott, Chino Valley, Prescott Valley, Sedona, and Verde Valley campuses and Camp Verde site.
