The horse industry is primarily made up of individuals who own and operate small to medium businesses in boarding, training, shoeing, sales, breeding and racing. Equine Management prepares students for entrepreneurship, employment or advancement in a variety of equine fields with hands-on training in behavior management, starting a horse business, horseshoeing, riding techniques, anatomy and physiology, special events management and training techniques.
Yavapai College has multiple partnerships with local equine facilities, including Gang Ranch, Four Shoes Farrier Supply, Van Guilder Boarding and Yavapai Downs. Facilities include indoor and outdoor arenas, driving areas, shoeing barns, round pens, and wash racks.
Equine classes are offered at the Chino Valley Agribusiness & Science Technology Campus and the Verde Valley Campus, with occasional classes offered in Camp Verde and Dewey.
