Horticulture Management

Horticulture management students work in a state-of-the-art, hands-on growing environment to learn about greenhouse environments, pest management, hydroponics, soils and growing media and propagation techniques. Upon completion of the program, students are prepared to work as growers, production managers, general managers garden center managers, foremen or sales representatives in the greenhouse growing industry.  
 
Partnerships  
Hines Color, one of the largest growers in the country in partnership with Yavapai College, offers student the ability to experience the horticulture industry first hand. Hines Color annually allows students to see their entire operation from current technology, to the entire growing process from seed to shipment. Many of our students have gone on to work for Hines Color.  
 
Euro Fresh, the largest hydroponic tomato producer in North America, has continually allowed YC faculty to intern so that course content is current with the growing industry of Hydroponics. Each semester students are given the chance to tour each of their two facilities in Arizona with a head grower.  
 
Facilities  
A 7,200 square foot greenhouse facility houses multiple production areas including hydroponic tomatoes, spring bedding plants, poinsettia crops, organic vegetables and fruit and ornamentals. Students manage the greenhouse in all phases as part of both the degree and certificate programs.  
 
Horticulture Management classes are offered at the Chino Valley Agribusiness & Science Technology Campus and the Verde Valley Campus.
