Humanities courses are designed to make students better thinkers and enrich their lives by making them more aware of the world around them. They enable students to better understand human attitudes, behavior and artistic expressions.
The Humanities prefix is applied to courses that cross strict discipline boundaries, including topics such as philosophy, religion, music, visual art, architecture, literature, dance, technology, society, human values and ethics.
All Humanities courses enhance students’ abilities to think critically and analytically, solve problems, express themselves clearly and assess sources of information. Thus, in Humanities courses, students get a broad view of a time period, a topic or an approach to life and enhance many of the skills that are crucial to other academic, personal, and career success.
Humanities courses are offered on the Prescott Campus and the Verde Valley campus on a regular basis and occasionally on the Chino Valley and Prescott Valley campuses. Several Humanities courses are offered online.
