The Yavapai College baseball program's Mile High Baseball School overnight summer camp for boys ages 10-18 will run from 2 to 4 p.m. July 22, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 23-25, Roughriders associate head coach/camp director Ryan Cougill said.

All sessions will take place at YC's Roughrider Park off 1100 E. Sheldon St. in Prescott, with instruction by Cougill and Yavapai College pitching coach Jerry Dawson.

Fees for the camp are $150 per participant for commuters and $400 per participant for overnighters. Payment covers professional instruction, evaluation, medical and dental insurance, a T-shirt, housing, meals and activities.

Cougill said campers will receive quality individual instruction on hitting, pitching, fielding and base running. Specialty areas will include speed, strength, conditioning, vision and mental skills. Tactics, strategy and games are also a part of the experience.

Individual campers will be put into groups according to age and ability in order to maximize every boy's learning, he added.

Mile High Baseball School has enough room for 150 campers.

To register and/or pay the fee to participate, log on to Yavapai College's athletics website at www.goroughriders.com/baseball or call Cougill on his office line at 928-776-2233. The school is now accepting Internet registration and credit card payments through PayPal.

A refundable deposit of 50 percent of the camp fee is required to reserve a space, and July 16 is the deadline for prospective overnight campers to submit their applications.

For more information, call Cougill at the aforementioned number.
