Fragmentation of Color at the YC Art Gallery
 Friday Matinee by Nicholas Bustamante
The Yavapai College Art Gallery at the Prescott Campus presents the exhibition Fragmentation of Color on display from July 23 – August 11, 2009. The opening reception takes place Thursday, July 23, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the art gallery. The Yavapai College Art Gallery is located inside the YC Performance Hall on the Prescott Campus.
Fragmentation of Color is a one-man show featuring the paintings of artist Nicholas Bustamante. The artist explores multiple perspectives within two-dimensional space.
Bustamante travels back roads and forgotten places on road trips throughout the United States searching for abandoned homes and structures. “I am drawn to spaces that hold within them the evidence of time. Places that at one time functioned, but now are broken down, mere shadows of what they once had been. My work recreates a narrative history for these places. The storytelling aspects of the works are meant to be nonlinear. This method of narration is very similar to the way we recall memories of childhood. The work explores ideas of home, shelter, and the way we create our personal space,” explained Bustamante.
