What's the Scoop?
Report it, Write it & Get People to Read it!
The delivery of news may have changed –what was once on your doorstep is now on your desktop – but the basics of reporting, writing, and composing creative copy remains foundational to top-notch journalism.
In Newswriting and Reporting (JRN 150) beginners and cub reporters can get the help they need with language, style, organization and the all-important lead – the grabber that keeps your readers reading. Students get practice on the page with editorial, feature and interpretive writing and learn how to stay out of trouble with a review of the legal and ethical aspects of the journalism profession. Bring pad, pencil and maybe even a laptop because during this class developing your news gathering and interviewing skills are included.
