Building A New Generation Of Readers

Join the Yavapai County Free Library District and the Del E. Webb Family Enrichment Center at Yavapai College for a parenting workshop entitled “Building A New Generation Of Readers” on Sat., Sept. 26, 2009, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. The workshop will be held in Building #1, Room 200 at the Prescott Campus of Yavapai College. The workshop is free and open to everyone.

Enjoy a two-hour introduction to six skills that prepare children for reading success. Learn why reading is so important for your child and discover how to use books, games and songs to raise a child who loves to read. Discussion will also focus on three developmental stages of a young child’s life and how to work with each age group. Presenters are Elaine Meyers and Jennifer Kiesl, Early Literacy Consultants.

Free child care will be provided at The Family Enrichment Center on campus during the workshop. Child care is available for children ages 3 months to 6 years, although space is limited. Call 928.776.2111 to register for the workshop and to sign-up for child care.

The Del E. Webb Family Enrichment Center at Yavapai College is a child development center that offers a safe and nurturing child-centered program that is focused on promoting children’s learning. The FEC enrolls children between the ages of three months through five years of age. The FEC is a laboratory school, which means that students pursuing a teaching career with young children have an opportunity to work under the guidance of master teachers at the facility.
