(District Wide)--In a recently released study analyzing the fastest growing salaries, Computer Numerical Programmer made the top twenty with growth from the previous year of over eight percent. Featured on CareerBuilder.com, salaries from 2009 and 2010 were averaged across each industry and then ranked according to percentage growth from one year to the next. Yavapai College currently offers four courses in Computer Numerical Programming (CNC) with a certification program in the works.
Although Computer Numerical Programmer is not as familiar of an occupation as doctor, lawyer, or firefighter, it is an occupation with a low barrier to entry and fantastic starting wages. Computer Numerical Controls (CNC) is the manufacturing process used throughout the field of machining. In modern CNC systems, component design and manufacture is highly automated using computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) programs. A computer numerical controller is able to create, read, and implement the language needed in modern day machining.
Currently, Yavapai College offers four courses in CNC: 101 CNC Machine Operator, 102 CNC Machine Set Up, 201 Computer Aided Programming for CNC Machining, and 202 3-D Programming and Rapid Prototyping for CNC. Three of the four courses require a pre-requisite.
